About Jan Bazow
Jan Bazow is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Group. Jan’s “heart” for helping emerging leaders ensures that they develop into effective leaders that can meet the challenges of today’s business environment, as well as ensures seasoned leaders continue to develop in their leadership journey.
Jan pursued her undergraduate studies in business (BBA) at Western Michigan University. Jan was accepted into the Masters of Arts in Education program at Union Presbyterian in Richmond. Jan is Ken Blanchard certified to teach Situational Leadership, certified in the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Inventory) and 5 Languages of Workplace Appreciation.
Jan resides in Richmond with her husband and daughter. She is an inspiring individual who has a great love for her family and her work.
About Jada Banks
Jada Banks is an affiliate partner with Fortis Group. Jada has the skill and passion for teaching individuals and teams at all levels in the organization. With each class, she creates an open learning environment that develops the critical skills that enhance individual and team effectiveness. Jada has the unique skill set to help people and organizations increase their credibility through developing the crucial communications skills needed in today’s workplace.
Jada received her M. Ed. in Adult Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a concentration in human resources and management development. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in English and Journalism. While at the University of Richmond, she was named to Phi Beta Kappa.
Jada splits her time between Richmond and Smith Mountain Lake. When she isn’t teaching others, she loves to hike, kayak and water ski. Jada loves the English language, reads voraciously and journals daily.
About Jeff Ukrop
Jeff Ukrop is an affiliate partner with Fortis Group. Jeff has the experience and the passion for helping people and organizations create workplace cultures based on values and appreciation. With each keynote presentation or workshop, he creates an environment that helps individuals and teams realize their potential in a tangible and fun way.
Jeff enjoyed a 14 year career of creating associate, customer, and vendor experiences in the Ukrop’s grocery business. Ukrop’s workplace culture focused on the Golden Rule and providing excellent products and extraordinary customer service. With a focus on fresh, prepared foods and, more importantly, treating people the right way, Ukrop’s became a destination for local shoppers, as well as retailers from around the world who wanted to learn more about prepared foods and customer service excellence.
Jeff loves spending time with his family and is an engaged and committed community leader. He is on the board of directors of First Things First, a Richmond-based organization that focuses on helping people put their families first. Jeff is also on the board of directors of Full Circle, a grief and family counseling organization in Richmond, Virginia.

Ann Fisher is the Director of Assessment Center with Fortis Group. Ann’s collaborative spirit and attention to detail and analysis ensures that our clients are informed and prepared to engage in the right assessments at the right time.
Ann received her B.A. from Roanoke College. She has utilized her analysis and customer service skills and expertise in medium and large-sized companies. Ann resides in Richmond with her husband and two sons. She is a passionate individual who has a great love for her family and her work. Ann enjoys bringing her gift of detail to the art of baking in her free time.
About Laura Wooton
Laura serves as Human Resources on Call Senior Consultant. She ensures Fortis Group clients receive just the right HR services at the right time. With 19 years of experience as a Human Resources Leader, she is known for her solid HR knowledge, tenacity, organization, and her commitment to those she serves.
Laura brings human resources leadership experience in profit and non-profit organizations, including Circuit City, Premier Pet Products, Ingenco, and VBH Continuous Care Retirement Communities.
Laura holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification; a Masters of Business Administration in Human Resources from Virginia Commonwealth University; and a Bachelor of Science, in Human Services from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Laura and her husband Evan enjoy travelling; hosting great football parties; cooking and conversing with friends. Laura and Evan reside in Richmond with their 4 children.
About Jody Faig
Jody serves as Human Resources Consultant and Coach. Jody’s recent work experience includes the Virginia Baptist Mission Board (VBMB), where she held leadership positions in Human Resources and Network Development and Operations.
Jody does a great job of connecting with applicants as she synthesizes information to determine the best match for our clients as she helps to place the right HR Resources professionals in organizations.
Jody also excels in helping individuals and leaders sort through the “issues” by providing clarity for individuals in the midst of conflict. She helps individuals and teams learn the art of leading through influence and leadership communication skills, while helping them develop personally and professionally today and for the future.
Jody is a graduate of Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, making discoveries, a good cup of coffee, and writing. Jody is a member of Gayton Church and she and her husband reside in Richmond and have two young adult children.
About Hadley Carter
Hadley is serving as our Leadership Intern. Hadley is currently a junior studying Business Marketing at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.
She has a Leadership and Social Change minor and has loved pouring her passion for serving and leading into Virginia Tech the past couple of years.
Hadley is a people-lover, a blogger, and a believer of finding the “greater purpose” in organizations and individuals.
About Aaron Lee
Aaron has more than a decade of experience leading nonprofits and churches and currently directs more than 1,200 volunteers in response to disasters. He is a gifted communicator, speaking publicly to large groups and presenting at seminars, as well as leading online and print communication and storytelling efforts.
Aaron has a passion for helping people live out a vibrant story in their personal and professional lives and has a strong desire to see organizations reach their vision and do so with efficiency and clarity. He has directed volunteers, staff and teams to raise funds, launch projects and lead events.
Aaron is a graduate of the University of Richmond and the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and has completed the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute and Fortis Emerging and Evolving Leaders programs. Aaron currently serves as co-facilitator of the North American Baptist Fellowship disaster response network and is a member of the Virginia Emergency Manager’s Association.
In his free time, Aaron enjoys spending time with his family, taking on a home improvement project and keeping up with the Spiders, Hokies and Orioles. Aaron and his wife live in Richmond with their two daughters.
